An Alaska Airlines 727 narrowly missed a light aircraft Thursday night 7,000 feet above Pomona, federal officials said.

The pilot of Alaska Airlines Flight 115, traveling from Ontario International Airport to Seattle, was advised by a flight controller that an unidentified small airplane had been spotted directly above the jet. The passenger plane took evasive action, and the unidentified light aircraft passed about 100 feet overhead.

The 727, carrying 68 passengers, continued on and landed without incident in Seattle, the Federal Aviation Administration said.

The smaller aircraft had not checked in with flight controllers, the FAA said, and its presence was first spotted just before the 6:38 p.m. near-miss.
