Denise Dabrowski, California Ballet’s prima ballerina, has found a way to expand her artistic horizons without sacrificing her San Diego life style.

“I just returned from Sacramento, where I danced my first ‘Sleeping Beauty,’ ” Dabrowski said. “Being a guest artist is great because it gives me a chance to do more professionally and make more of a living--without having to leave the San Diego dance community. I still want to make my home here.”

Sacramento audiences were just as kind to her as her hometown fans.

“The reviews were very good, and we had wonderful audiences up there,” she said. “Friday morning, the (Sacramento) Civic Theater was packed with schoolchildren, and we had nice audiences Saturday night and for the Sunday matinee. It was the first chance I had to do ‘Sleeping Beauty,’ and I just love the role. I hope to be able to do it here in San Diego some time.”
