Share

The Junior Woman’s Club of Playa del Rey will examine the history of the area at a benefit designed to raise money for the privately maintained Titmouse Park.

Participants will include representatives of the Gabrielino tribe, which occupied the bluffs and the Ballona Wetlands when the Spanish arrived in the 1700s; a descendant of the Machado family, which once owned most of Playa del Rey, and specialists who will discuss the area’s natural history.

The event will be held Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Woman’s Club in Playa del Rey, 8039 W. Manchester Ave.
