What happens when a program is thoughtful, intelligent and as cleverly written as “thirtysomething”? It receives criticism for being “sickeningly cute” and featuring a “bunch of professional self-pitiers.” The words of Dan O’Neill (Viewers’ Views, Feb. 14). With encouragement like that, what can we hope for? Perhaps another cute sitcom with the all-important moral at the end of the story. When we start attacking the quality, then that’s all we deserve.
