A Marine embassy guard who figured prominently in last year’s Moscow spy scandal will leave the military next month, the Marine Corps said. Cpl. Arnold Bracy, 22, of New York, will be formally discharged on April 4. He will receive an honorable discharge, a Marine official said. Bracy served as an embassy guard in Moscow with Sgt. Clayton J. Lonetree, 26, who was convicted last August of passing classified information to Soviet agents after becoming involved with a Soviet woman. Bracy also faced a military court-martial because it was believed he had conspired with Lonetree and allowed KGB agents inside the embassy. Those allegations were based in part on a confession signed by Bracy after a lengthy interrogation. Bracy later recanted the statement. All charges against him were dropped when military lawyers concluded they did not have any corroborating evidence.
