The beleaguered U.S. Ski Team began a major reorganization with the resignations of Harald Schoenhaar, the Alpine program director, and Alan Ross, the team’s executive director. Named to replace Schoenhaar was John McMurtry, who has been director of the team’s development program since February 1987.

Thomas Weisel, president of the board of trustees of the team, also announced the appointment of John Bower as director of the Nordic program. Bower, currently the athletic director at Principia College in Elsah, Ill., was the U.S. Nordic director from 1975 to 1980. The job had been vacant for a year.

The U.S. team has had a dismal season, underlined by a poor showing in the Winter Olympics.
