Regionalism

Aaron Spelling assures us that the ladies in “Angels ‘88” won’t be “portraying dumdums with a Southern accent walking around” (Outtakes, by Connie Benesch, Feb. 28).

Although it’s unfortunate that he used an ungrammatical sentence to impugn a region’s intelligence, I must admit that I appreciate his up-front bigotry. I’ve found most producers to be maddeningly subtle in their discrimination against Southerners.

At least Spelling doesn’t pussyfoot.
