GOP Opposes Use of State Funds to Counsel Gay Students

Share

I read your article about the gay counselor with concern.

Seven years ago my son, then a junior at college, told me that he was gay. For the first time in his life he felt happy and good about himself. He had been able to join a support group at school that helped him understand his problem and accept himself. He also mentioned how unhappy his high school years had been because he had no one to talk to about his homosexuality.

How lucky he would have been to have had a counselor like Uribe and how unfortunate and frightening that a few misguided people like LaFollette and her constituency can try to take their program away.
