I enjoyed Thomas’ article but there is one correction I would like to make.

Thomas referred to the “Piccolino” dress Ginger Rogers wore in “Top Hat” as the ostrich plume dress which is said to have so chagrined Fred Astaire because of the plumes flying as they danced.

Any dyed-in-the-wool Astaire-Rogers fan will tell you that the ostrich plume dress was worn in the “Cheek to Cheek” number and that a simpler gown adorned with sequins or beading was worn in “Piccolino.”

If the Smithsonian has the gown incorrectly labeled, I suggest they view the film.

The error was corrected for later editions of last week’s Calendar. Part II of the search for the ruby slippers in on Page 18.
