Olympic silver medalist Erik Johnsen of Norway and compatriot Ole Gunnar Fidjestoel, the world ski flying champion, finished 1-2 in the 90-meter World Cup ski jumping competition at Holmenkollen, Norway.

It was Norway’s first double on the Holmenkollen hill since 1979 and its first victory since Steinar Braaten won in 1983.

Johnsen’s jumps of 97 and 105.5 meters were the longest in both rounds of jumps and gave him 217.2 points. Runner-up Fidjestoel was 15.2 points behind with 202.0 points on jumps of 94.5 and 103 meters.

Guenther Stranner of Austria, with jumps of 90 and 102 meters, placed third with 194.3 points.

Matti Nykanen of Finland, the triple Olympic champion who has clinched the World Cup, was only in 22nd place after his first jump of 85 meters for 78.5 points and only improved two spots.
