Study Finds Steep Rise in Santa Clarita Home Prices

According to a recent study, the average price for new single-family houses in the Santa Clarita and Antelope Valleys is on the rise.

The study, conducted by The Siracusa Co., a real estate market research firm in Westlake Village, compared the sales of new houses and condominiums from Newhall to Lancaster in the 1987 winter quarter, November to January, to spring 1987 sales, February to April.

It found that the average price of a new single-family house in the Santa Clarita area was $209,130, a 33% increase during the period. There were 458 new houses sold in the Santa Clarita Valley in the winter quarter.

In the Antelope Valley, which encompasses the Lancaster and Palmdale area, the average price of a new single-family house climbed 8% to $111,952 from $103,591 in the same time period. Nearly 700 houses were sold in the Antelope Valley in the winter quarter.

Forty new condominiums were sold in the Antelope Valley at an average price of $65,154 during the winter quarter, contrasted with $60,253 in the spring. In the Santa Clarita Valley, 145 condominiums were sold at an average price of $108,867, contrasted with $98,174 for the spring.
