U.S. Troops in Honduras
With the vacillating support by the U.S. Congress, the Contras must be a people of conviction to attempt to fight against such odds. Witnessed by the performance of the U.S. as an ally in Southeast Asia and in Iran, it will be suicidal to depend on us as a reliable source of support.
I believe that it is almost criminal for our nation to abruptly abandon an ally based on the whims of our politicians. Even if the alliance eventually turns out to be an error, it is our responsibility to seek a graceful exit for our former allies and ourselves.
I personally don’t believe that military intervention solves anything in today’s world, but if one wishes to play the game, one cannot simply walk out at half-time and leave your teammates hanging.
