SDSU Blanks Nevada Reno in Both Games

San Diego State’s softball team swept a doubleheader from Nevada Reno with two shutouts, 6-0 and 4-0.

Trish Mang (8-2) pitched the first game and also was 3 for 3 at the plate, including a solo home run in the third inning. Mang, whose earned run average is 1.85, had four runs batted in.

Michelle Wesson (3-0) was the winning pitcher in the second game. SDSU is 13-5 and 3-2.

TENNIS

J.R. Edwards won at No. 3 singles and Mark Farren won at No. 5 singles, but the University of San Diego lost to Miami, 5-3, in the Blue-Gray national collegiate tournament in Montgomery, Ala.

USD trailed, 4-2, when Dave Stewart and Scott Patridge dropped a match at No. 1 doubles to allow Miami to clinch the victory. USD is 14-9.
