Saudi Arabia concealed from the United States its purchase of Chinese intermediate-range missiles for more than two years, the Washington Post reported. The United States did not confront the Saudis about the missile purchase until March 6, when Washington demanded and received an assurance that the missiles do not have nuclear warheads, the Post said. With a range of more than 2,000 miles, the CSS-2 missiles based in Saudi Arabia can strike any Mideast capital, including Tel Aviv, and Israel has hinted that it might make a preemptive strike.
