Vietnam has told the United States that it will return the remains of 27 U.S. servicemen missing from the Vietnam War, the largest number returned at one time, the Pentagon said. The remains will be delivered to U.S. military officials in Hanoi next Wednesday and flown to the Army’s Central Identification Laboratory in Honolulu for identification. A Pentagon spokesman said the largest previous transfer was on Aug. 14, 1985, when the Vietnamese returned 26 remains. There are 1,767 Americans still listed as missing in Vietnam.
