John Daugherty, 78, a former dancer with the Ruth St. Denis-Ted Shawn troupe who became a well-known writer and teacher of dance in Southern California. After retiring as a performer, Daugherty turned to writing for various publications, primarily Dance News to which he contributed a Southern California column. He also taught the history of dance at UCLA and at Cal State Long Beach. In South Gate on Thursday of heart illness.
