The Delaware Supreme Court has upheld damages and interest awarded to Trans World Airlines in a 25-year legal battle with the late Howard R. Hughes and his Hughes Tool Co. TWA filed the lawsuit in 1962, claiming the defendants had breached their legal duty by deliberately interfering with TWA’s commercial success to benefit themselves. At that time, Hughes owned 78% of TWA stock. TWA was awarded more than $48.3 million in damages plus interest against the firm, also known as Toolco.
