Microsoft Corp. said its income rose 95% for the third quarter to $37.3 million, compared to $19.1 million for the year-ago period. The Redmond, Wash., firm said revenue of $161.8 million was up 65% over the $98.4 million for the like period of 1987. The firm credited the gains to record revenue on a worldwide basis from retail sales. International revenue, accounting for 48% the firm’s business, was notably strong due to increased product shipments and favorable exchange rates, the computer software company said.
