A Jewish task force on teen-age suicide this week called on the recording industry to “exercise good judgment and restraint” by not releasing songs containing lyrics that advocate suicide. The Task Force of Youth Suicide, formed by the Union of American Hebrew Congregations, made the request after the suicide of a 16-year-old in Edison, N.J., who was carrying a tape cassette of the Ozzy Osbourne album “Tribute” when he killed himself. The album contains the song “Suicide Solution.” A spokesman for the group said it applauded the industry’s “resistance to attempts to apply outside censorship,” and asked that the removal of suicide-related songs be done voluntarily.
