King Johnny

I applaud Johnny Carson’s decision to return to work without his “writers” (“Cracks in the Writers Guild Wall” by Michael Cieply, May 4).

My guess is that he got tired of watching recent reruns of the “Tonight Show” and being reminded of just how bad the writing has been in the last few years. I’m sure he can do just as well without his staff of well-paid writers (I wonder if they feel guilty for striking, when they know that they’re already overpaid).

Personally, I’m bored with the strike, and I’ve been bored with Carson’s writers. But I’m looking forward to seeing the die-hard talk-show king back on his throne.
