For March, 1988

Activity at John Wayne Airport in March remained relatively steady compared to 1987 except in two areas: in its air taxi and military operations. Alan Murphy, assistant to the airport manager, says the drop in air taxi operations stems from a cut in flights by American Eagle. The cuts were mandated by the airport management because the carrier had exceeded its annual allocation for flights, said Murphy. He added that it isn’t necessary for the airport to grant the military special permission to use John Wayne Airport for its operations, (mostly practice landings), so he had no explanation for the jump in the number of those operations.

Also, the number of autos parked in March was not available due to the extensive construction in progress at the airport.
