The daughters of Babe Ruth have filed suit in federal court in New York against MacMillan Publishing in an attempt to halt sales of a 1988 calendar carrying a picture of the legendary baseball star on its cover.

The daughters--Dorothy Ruth Pirone of Durham, Conn., and Julia Ruth Stevens of Conway, N.H.--filed the suit over publication of “The 1988 MacMillan Baseball Engagement Calendar.”

The calendar has two photos of the Babe, including the one on its cover, which were used without permission of the family, the suit charges.
