Japanese police arrested a member of the Red Army terrorist gang wanted for his part in Japan’s first airliner hijacking 18 years ago. Yasuhiro Shibata, 34, was seized as he left his Tokyo apartment and charged with using a false passport. Police had believed until recently that Shibata and his seven comrades were still in North Korea. The hijackers forced a Japan Air Lines Boeing 727 to land in North Korea on March 31, 1970. Japan’s National Police Agency said investigators are questioning Shibata about the possibility of terrorist attacks on the Summer Olympics in Seoul.
