Burma’s army has killed, raped and tortured civilians during its fight to crush rebel movements among ethnic minorities, the human rights group Amnesty International said in Bangkok. Describing the fates of nearly 200 alleged victims, the organization said evidence shows “a consistent pattern of gross violations of human rights” by the Burmese military. It said the information on Burma came from civilians of the Karen, Mon and Kachin ethnic groups who fled the country and were interviewed in Thailand last November.
