The adopted son of Broadway star George Rose said today that he and three relatives killed the actor last week in the Dominican Republic and staged a car crash in an attempt to cover up the crime.

Domingo Antonio Rafle, 18, told reporters at a news conference in a police station that he planned Rose’s murder because he was jealous over an affair he said the 68-year-old actor was having with a 14-year-old girl.

A team of Dominican forensic doctors told reporters earlier in the day that a second autopsy had proved Rose was murdered and not killed in an automobile accident as originally reported.

Photographs and other evidence from the case were taken to forensic specialists in Miami, who said an earlier autopsy report that ruled out foul play in the actor’s death was wrong.

Rose’s body was found last Thursday on a highway outside the northern Dominican resort of Puerto Plata, where the British-born actor owned a vacation home.

Police and the original autopsy report said Rose was killed when his rented car flipped off a highway near Puerto Plata, about 120 miles north of Santo Domingo.

The case was reopened on a request by the U.S. Embassy to Federal Atty. Gen. Pura Luz Nunez.

Police made no comment on earlier reports that Rose was found with a small bag of cocaine in one of his pockets.
