Meeting in Madrid, leaders of the world’s Socialist parties urged President Reagan and Soviet leader Mikhail S. Gorbachev to work at their Moscow summit for cuts in strategic nuclear weapons and for a Middle East peace conference. Resolutions passed at a two-day meeting of the Socialist International, which encompasses world Socialist parties, also rebuked Israel for its handling of the Palestinian uprising in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
