Ex-Chinese Hotel Manager Sentenced

BEIJING —
The former general manager of one of China’s top hotels has been sentenced to seven years in prison for taking bribes from Hong Kong and foreign businessmen, the New China News Agency said on Friday.
It said a provincial court in Canton sentenced Yang Xianting, who ran the Dongfang (Oriental) Hotel there from 1979 to 1984, for taking $6,500 in bribes and for taking a hotel camera for his own use.
