Japan Motorcyclist Wins Race in Tokyo

Japan’s Noboru Miura, riding a Honda RVF750, won the Pocari Sweat Touring Trophy Formula World Champonship Series motorcycle race Sunday.

Miura, 26, winner of the All-Japan Road Race last month, sped 50 laps around the 2.3-mile sportland Sugo course in 1 hour 21 minutes 32.57 seconds for an average speed of 82.5024 m.p.h. He received first prize of $12,000.

Takahiro Sohwa of Japan, riding a Kawasaki-ZXR-7 motorcyle, was second in 1:22:00.51. He won $8,000.

Gary Goodfellow of New Zealand, riding a Suzuki-GSX-R750, was tops among five foreign riders, placing sixth. He covered 49 laps in 1:22:16.22
