Navy Officer Faces Court-Martial for Marrying a Marine Corporal

Share

Isn’t it ironic that the U.S. Navy would court-martial a lieutenant for fraternizing with an enlisted man of another branch (and later marrying him) while the state Supreme Court says school boards are limited in disciplining employees (“Ruling Limits School Boards’ Discipline,” Part I, May 13)?

School Principal Nancy Burman and another female principal invited two school custodians to a nightclub for drinking and dancing. After staying out all night, she then lied to her school about her whereabouts.

The court ruled the school district could not fire Burman.

Mazure, if convicted, faces two years in prison, a dishonorable discharge and perhaps loss of her dentist’s license. Her husband has been forced to leave the Marine Corps.
