Throngs of tasters gathered at Pacific Asia Museum in Pasadena Sunday to take part in its first annual food, wine and brew festival. Themed “A Taste of Asia,” the afternoon event featured dishes from the Far East and Southeast Asia as prepared by local restaurants. At top left, Eddie Lim of Singapore Satay fans a charcoal fire as he grills Singapore-style satay, which was accompanied by peanut sauce. The New Otani Hotel and Garden offered cold somen (noodles) and skewers of chicken yakitori at its booth. Above, Martin Hernandez uses chopsticks to dish up the noodles from their container, a block of ice. Thai food drew visitors to the Siamese Princess table where Victor Sodsook, left, and Chris Chapman prepared a fried, rice-coated seafood appetizer to dip in spicy plum sauce. Foods from India, Malaysia, China and the Philippines were also featured, along with Thai and Chinese cooking demonstrations. The event was a benefit for the museum’s educational programs.
