At least 28,000 pan-size channel catfish are to be planted in 13 Orange County lakes this summer, part of a statewide program to help replace the 1 million catfish lost to disease at a hatchery in Imperial County last year.

In all, state Fish and Game Department officials said, 166,000 fish weighing from one-half to three-fourths of a pound, will be put in 50 California lakes.

The lakes in Orange County are Carbon Canyon Park, Centennial Park, Craig Regional Park, Huntington Lake, Irvine Regional Park, Laguna Niguel, Los Coyotes, Mason Regional Park, Mile Square Park, Talbert Lake, Tri-City Park, Twin Lakes Park and Yorba Linda Lake.
