A sampling of individual retail stock brokers in North America showed average earnings off about 27% since the October stock market crash, the Securities Industry Assn. said. Earnings for all of 1987 were off about 3% from 1986, the SIA said. Institutional brokers’ earnings also declined in the post-October market by almost 18%, but rose 3% for all of 1987, compared to 1986, the trade association said.
