Carson Council Backs Dance Class Program
The Carson City Council approved a dance program beginning in July that will have room for 30 participants, grouped according to age, experience and ability. Participants will meet six to 15 hours a week to develop ballet, tap and modern dance techniques.
The program, which is budgeted for $35,000, is intended to fill a gap in fine arts programs for Carson youth, which now include theater and music programs but no dance classes. Participant fees and the sale of performance tickets are expected to generate between $5,000 and $10,000 to defray part of the cost of the program to the city.
