President Reagan today ordered that Panamanian officials linked to Gen. Manuel A. Noriega and President Manuel Solis Palma be barred indefinitely from entering the United States.

The move marked another step in the monthslong U.S. effort to force Noriega, Panama’s military ruler, from power. Reagan said he had taken the action “in light of the current political and economic crisis in Panama.” It was not immediately clear how many Panamanian officials the order would affect or whether the move would have any impact in Reagan’s campaign to oust Noriega.
