Jay Barrs of Mesa, Ariz., scored a solid victory in the men’s division and Denise Parker, 14, topped the women’s field at the U.S. Olympic archery trials at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

The top three finishers qualified to represent the United States in the Seoul Olympics.

Barrs led the four days of shooting and finished with a low score of 7 points. Hometown favorite Darrell Pace, a two-time Olympic gold medalist from Hamilton, Ohio, was second and Rick McKinney of Gilbert, Ariz., also an Olympic medalist, third.

Parker, of South Jordan, Utah, had 7 points to lead the 24 women finalists. Debbie Ochs of Howell, Mich., finished second and Melanie Skillman of Laureldale, Pa., was third.
