Oceanside Project to Use Site of Former Marine Housing

Share

Demolition is under way in Oceanside on the World War II-vintage former Marine Corps Sterling Housing project, with construction scheduled to begin in about four months on the $50-million Eagles Crossing residential/retail development.

The 55-acre mixed-use project will be developed by Hunt Building Corp., El Paso, which also was awarded a contract to build 632 new housing units for military families in Camp Pendleton.

Eagles Crossing, part of Oceanside’s revitalization program, will have 300 moderately priced attached units, 336 rental apartments and 114 units for senior citizens.

Ten acres of the development at Mission Avenue and Canyon Drive have been reserved for retail development, according to Al Baker, Hunt vice president.
