Local News in Brief : Grand Jury Probe Urged
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday requested the county grand jury to enter the investigation of alleged embezzlement in the county Fire Department.
Supervisor Michael Antonovich said a criminal investigation by the district attorney’s office, which has led to felony charges against a former Fire Department accountant, should be supplemented by a Los Angeles County Grand Jury probe to determine if other employees were involved.
Earlier this month, William Paternostro, 40, was charged with embezzling $526,000 in funds sent to the county for payment of supplies and services.
