BANGKOK, Thailand —
Do Muoi, who has directed purges against corruption in Vietnam’s ruling Communist Party, was chosen today as the country’s prime minister, the official Radio Hanoi said.
Do Muoi, 71, was elected on the opening day of the National Assembly, said the broadcast, monitored in Bangkok. He replaces Pham Hung, who died in March. A party communique, meanwhile, said Vietnam’s Communist Party has decided to regularly change its leadership to improve efficiency and better the economy.
