Pasadena : Innocent Plea in Bribe Case

Share

Brad Sallard, the brother-in-law of a Pasadena crematorium operator charged with illegally selling body parts, stealing dental gold from bodies and conducting mass cremations, has pleaded innocent to two felony charges of bribing a witness.

Sallard, whose sister is married to Lamb Funeral Home operator David Sconce, was released on $3,000 bail after his arraignment Monday.

Prosecutors say Sallard offered David Gerhardt, Sconce’s cellmate in county jail, $160 to discredit the prosecutor who was then handling Sconce’s case.

Sconce and his parents, Laurieanne Lamb Sconce and Jerry Wayne Sconce, have been charged with 67 misdemeanor and felony counts in connection with their operation of the Lamb Funeral Home in Pasadena, Coastal International Eye and Tissue Bank and Coastal Cremations. The Sconces have denied any wrongdoing.

A pre-trial hearing for the Sconces is scheduled for July 15 in Pasadena Superior Court.
