Fires blamed mostly on Arab arsonists destroyed more than 60 acres of forests in northern Israel, and clashes with Israeli troops in the occupied territories left one Arab dead and at least three injured. In the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip, most businesses and schools were shut by a general strike. At the Gaza Strip refugee camp of Rafah, Talad Khalil Zakoot, 16, was killed during a clash with Israeli troops, an Arab reporter quoted the boy’s relatives as saying. Army officials said they were checking the report. Soldiers in Nablus shot and wounded two Palestinians when youths threw stones and bottles at them, an army spokesman said. Also, a woman was injured when West Bank Arabs stoned a bus heading for the Jewish city of Ariel, Israel Radio reported.
