Marine General Selected

President Reagan has selected Lt. Gen. Joseph J. Went to become assistant commandant of the Marine Corps, the Pentagon announced Wednesday. Went, 57, would be promoted to the four-star rank of general. He would replace Gen. Thomas R. Morgan, who will retire on July 1.
