Pessimism about the future of Orange County as a place to live has never been higher. Residents who think it will be a worse place to live in the future (rather than a better place) now find themselves in the majority. In fact, those with a dim view outnumber the optimists by a 2-to-1 ratio. These feelings have intensified during the last two years; attitudes turned negative in 1986 and accelerated in 1987.
BETTER 1983: 40% 1987: 26% WORSE 1983: 35% 1987: 54% NO CHANGE 1983: 25% 1987: 20%
