Share

President Reagan urged Democratic congressional leaders to appoint representatives to work with the Administration on the drug problem, saying it is “too important for us to permit partisan bickering.” Delivering his weekly radio talk from the Oval Office, the President said his own National Drug Policy Board will recommend specific proposals this week “that would be important to any new drug legislation.” Reagan added: “My goal is to combine the expertise of the executive and legislative branches to identify the next steps we should take to stop the illegal use, distribution and production of drugs and to begin taking these steps on a bipartisan basis.”
