Dr. M. Lee Pearce, an investor who holds a 7.5% stake in Beverly Hills-based American Medical International, said he backs a shareholder proposal for restructuring AMI. Collectively, Pearce and three investment groups own about 32% of AMI’s outstanding shares. In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Miami hospital executive said he supports the June 22 reorganization proposal by Investment L.P. of Ft. Worth in which Pearce and the three groups would each get a seat on AMI’s board. A company spokesman said AMI had no comment on the proposal.
