UCI Professor Honored for Opinion Survey
UC Irvine social ecology professor Mark Baldassare, who directs an annual survey of changing trends in Orange County, has received the 1988 Academic Excellence Award from the Orange County chapter of the American Society for Public Administration.
Robert Dunek, executive director of the Santa Ana-based Orange County League of Cities, praised Baldassare at the recent award ceremonies. Dunek was chairman of the award committee for the Orange County chapter of the American Society for Public Administration.
“Baldassare has made a significant contribution to public and private decision-makers in Orange County through his annual survey, which addresses major policy issues in Orange County and provides accurate information about public sentiment in regard to these issues,” Dunek said.
Baldassare has been at UCI since 1981 and has conducted the Orange County Annual Survey since 1982. The survey measures the political, economic and social concerns of more than 1,000 county residents each year.
