Fifty police officers provided security to mourners at the Houston funeral for a slain 8-year-old girl and three former members of a violent polygamist cult. The pastor wore a bulletproof vest. About 100 family members and friends attended the private funeral at the Spring Branch Church of God. Edward T. Marston, brothers Mark and Duane Chynoweth and Duane’s daughter, Jennifer, were all slain within moments of each other in three separate execution-style incidents in Houston and Irving on Monday. All three men had left the violence-prone Church of the Lamb of God. Marston was the stepson of church founder Ervil LeBaron. Houston, Irving and Salt Lake City police patrolled the church, funeral home and Memorial Oaks cemetery because of violence at past funerals of Lamb of God members. Saturday’s ceremony was peaceful.
