Things are running a little behind schedule, but Remedy Temp, a San Juan Capistrano-based temporary employment agency, has sold its first franchise--in Norfolk, Va. The privately owned company began marketing its franchise program a year ago and in November Remedy Temp President Paul Mikos said he hoped to have five franchise operations opened within six months to help the company, which has $50 million in annual sales, become a national force. Franchisees pay a $15,000 fee for exclusive rights to a territory and two weeks of training. Mikos said in an earlier interview that the average franchisee also should expect to invest $100,000 initially and to lose money for the first year or so. Ultimately, Remedy Temp hopes to have 100 franchise offices around the country. The 23-year-old company currently has 37 company-owned offices in five states.
