Go-Video Inc.’s plans to manufacture a dual-deck videocassette recorder for dubbing and duplication purposes was given a big boost Wednesday when the company announced that it had reached an agreement settling a $250-million antitrust suit with Toshiba Corp. of Japan. The settlement of the suit--in which Go-Video maintained that major Japanese and Korean electronics manufacturers had conspired to thwart its dual-deck plans by cutting off its parts supply--allows the Scottsdale, Ariz.-based company to collaborate with Ssangyong, a $5-billion multinational Korean corporation, on the unit’s production. Ssangyong had said it would not begin serious negotiations with Go-Video unless Toshiba, a major supplier of Ssangyong, would not object to such a venture between Ssangyong and Go-Video.
