Newlyweds and Their Crossbow Heist Way Through Honeymoon

Newlyweds Marylyn and Mark Allen went on their honeymoon with a crossbow and carried out about 100 robberies in three weeks, a court was told Friday.

Their loot from hold-ups across 12 English counties totaled about $8,000. They used a crossbow and an air rifle to rob post offices and roadside cafes.

Their luck ran out when a motorist tackled baby-faced Mark Allen, 22, who fired the crossbow at him. He was saved from serious injury because the arrow embedded in his wallet.

Allen wept in Ipswich Crown Court and said he organized the robberies to impress his 34-year-old bride. He was jailed for 12 years and she was given a three-year sentence.
