Brian’s Songs

Regarding Robert Hilburn’s article, “Brian Wilson--Back From the Twilight Zone” (July 10), Eugene Landy’s suggestion that all psychologists engage in his kind of “multiple-quadruple” capacity is misleading to the general public and simply untrue.

Whether the album is considered a 4-star or 1-star effort is not the issue. That Landy is Wilson’s collaborator, business partner, executive producer and therapist is a violation of one of the Ethical Principles of Psychologists:

“Psychologists are continually cognizant of their own needs and of their potentially influential position vis-a-vis clients. They avoid exploiting the trust and dependency of such persons. Psychologists make every effort to avoid dual relationships that could impair their professional judgment or increase the risk of exploitation.”
